Effects of Autonomic Modulation
نویسنده
چکیده
The development left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) represents a critical milestone in patients with hypertensive heart disease (HHD). This structural remodeling and the associated abnormalities in diastolic function portend an increased risk of both mortal and morbid events (1–4). Treatment that results in the regression of LVH is associated with a reduction in these event rates (5–8). However, success in reversing LVH using existing pharmaceutical regimens has neither been uniform nor complete, particularly in patients with drug-resistant, refractory hypertension.

Heart rate variability as important approach for assessment autonomic modulation
–Alterations in the heart rate recovery and heart rate variability have been associated with greater risk of mortality and early prognosis of cardiac diseases. Thus, strategies for assessing autonomic nervous system and its modulation to the heart are crucial for preventing cardiovascular events in healthy subjects as well as in cardiac patients. In this review, an update of studies examining h...
متن کاملComparison of the effects of Tai Chi Chuan and Wai Tan Kung exercises on autonomic nervous system modulation and on hemodynamics in elder adults.
The health of the middle-aged and elderly people is a major concern given the rapid aging population and rising costs of medical care. Low-impact exercise on a regular basis is ideal for maintaining the well-being of an aging population. Tai Chi Chuan (TCC) is the most well-known and most widely practiced form of low-impact martial arts therapy and has been shown to have positive health effects...
متن کاملPolycystic Ovary Syndrome Presents Higher Sympathetic Cardiac Autonomic Modulation that is not altered by Strength Training
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) may present important comorbidities, such as cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, which are often preceded by changes in cardiac autonomic modulation. Different types of physical exercises are frequently indicated for the prevention and treatment of PCOS. However, little is known about the effects of strength training on the metabolic, hormonal, and cardiac au...
متن کاملEffects of inspiratory muscle exercise in the pulmonary function, autonomic modulation, and hemodynamic variables in older women with metabolic syndrome
The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of inspiratory muscle exercise (IME) on metabolic and hemodynamic parameters, cardiac autonomic modulation and respiratory function of older women with metabolic syndrome (MS). For this, sixteen older women with MS and 12 aged-matched controls participated of the present study. Two days before and 2 days after the main experiment, fast...
متن کاملEEGs and autonomic changes during and after acupuncture stimulation
A "Qi" feeling (a kind of comfortable sense) during and after acupuncture is one of the important determinants to decide quantity (trial number) of acupuncture stimulation. It has been reported that various autonomic responses were evoked when patients felt "Qi" and when acupuncture stimulation had significant effects on EEGs. However, quantitative relationships among acupuncture stimulation, E...
